Dedication Prayer for The LifeHouse

Tonight, while dedicating The LifeHouse, I read a self-modified version of Solomon's prayer when he dedicated the Temple in Jerusalem from 2 Chronicles 6. Solomon used these words to dedicate the first permanent prayer room, and they are powerfully fitting for The LifeHouse, as well.

Below is exactly what I read this evening:

"O Jesus, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth, you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way.

Jesus, we ask you to fill this place with the rushing mighty wind of the Holy Spirit as you did in the Upper Room.

But will God really dwell in a building? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this prayer room we have built! Yet, give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, O Jesus. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence.

May your eyes be open toward The LifeHouse, this prayer room, day and night. May you hear the prayers your servant prays in this place. Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people when they pray in this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

When a man wrongs his neighbor and repents in this room, then hear from heaven and act. Declare the innocent not guilty and so establish his innocence.

When your people suffer defeat because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and confess your name, praying and making supplication before you in this room, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people and bring them back to their destiny.

When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain or provision because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray in this place, confess the Name of Jesus, and turn from their sin, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants. Teach them the right way to live, and send and abundance of rain and provision.

When lack or sickness comes to your people, or when their enemies besiege them in, whatever disaster or disease may come, and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people, each one aware of his afflictions and pains, by spreading out his hands in this room, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of men), so that they will fear you and walk in your ways all the days of their lives.

As for the lost person who does not belong to your kingdom, but comes into this place because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm, when he comes and prays in this room, then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the lost asks of you, so that all the people of this city may know your name and fear you, as we do, and may know that this house we have built bears the Name of Jesus.

When your people go into various battles, and war against their enemies, when they pray to you in this room we have built for the Name of Jesus, then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

When your people sin against you, for there is no one who does not sin, and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to his will, and if they have a change of heart, and repent and plead with you, and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly'; And if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul, and pray in this place we have built for the Name of Jesus; then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.

Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

Now arise, O Spirit of God, and fill this place! May we, your priests, O Jesus, be clothed with salvation,may your saints rejoice in your goodness.

Amen!"
